Sort by name… nice. The sort extensions have been wonky for me ever since the intro of Livemarks. (Understandably so.) Here’s hoping this only sorts the bookmarks by name, and not the Livemarks which are usually ordered by time.

Now the only feature I want for bookmarks is a different folder icon if a Livemark has new content.

Is it just me, or is popups suddenly forcing the display of an addressbar in the top? Customizing my UI also b0rks badly, it disables the toolbar once you complete customizing it.

  3. Jesse Ruderman Says:

Correct, popups now always have an address bar. See the 2004-09-07 entry.

the bookmarks suck suck suck. they really do. how can i recommend a browser to friends and family that comes with such stupid bookmarks they can’t use for anything? first thing i will have to do when i install firefox for them will be to delete them. and if they install firefox for themselves i know they will have those superfluous bookmarks for ever and ever.

  5. Robin Says:

IE also has useless bookmarks. At least these are a little more personal.

  6. David Naylor Says:

Yes, I agree, they beat the IE default Favourites by miles, even though I was a little sceptical at first to all those bookmarks.

Maybe they should be narrowed down in numbers, otherwise we risk doing an ‘Opera’. (Anyone who has seen the default Opera bookmarks will know what I’m talking about.) I.e. giving the user a set of bookmarks which makes him/her feel sick at the sheer sight of them all, and delete them there and then.

  7. Jafe Mourner Says:

Haha, the default Quick Search bookmarks are cool to help people learn the feature, but the others really should go (except maybe a link to http://www.mozilla.org and mozillazine).

Especially the lame political endorsement for Amnesty International http://www.amnesty.org/ . How many people install a new browser and are going to click on that? :-/
