This automatic migration from the phoenix folder did not work for me. I had to close down firefox and rename the folder. That worked.

firefox-i686-pc-cygwin.zip ? A move from MSVCRT.DLL to CYGWIN.DLL (that said without inspecting the executable yet.) Does someone knows why ?

According to MozJF, it is only “compiled using cygwin tools”.
I just checked : Firefox.exe still depends on MSVCRT.DLL . Nothing changed in that respect.

About the profile renaming and migration, has anyone managed to get their saved form information (including the search bar history) to get migrated in today’s builds?

  5. Seth Kinast Says:

Although Firefox tries to migrate the data, it’s still way busted. It creates the ‘Firefox’ folder, but then uses the old ‘Phoenix’ folder instead. You can’t manually move the data (not easily, at least) because config files in the browser directory ALSO point to ‘Phoenix’. I just ended up dumping my profile and the entire browser directory and starting over with a ‘Firefox’ folder.

  6. Hank Says:

    OSX –
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040312 Firefox/0.8.0+

I let the new directory be created, changed one permission for luck (ask/cookies), closed. Dragged over everything from the old User Profile folder except the ‘xul’ folder (superstitious, it bit me once a while ago). The Chrome folder wasn’t recognized; I reinstalled three extensions, then when trying to install the fourth one kept being prompted repeatedly for where to put it — then Ffox was very weird. (For example OK dialog buttons didn’t click nor respond to Enter).

So I used the Dock, and Quit. Looked, found I actually had only one extension installed. Installed the others (install, quit, restart each time).
    OK so far since.
